Tom Wolfe on the election

Tom Wolfe, whose writing I adore, has a new novel coming out later this week, I Am Charlotte Simmons. He makes some telling points in this Guardian interview about the liberal elite but, in the end, what he really reveals is that Bush has won the vote of another multimillionaire with not much hint of a social conscience.

Computer switchover

I’m in the process of switching over to a new computer: a Sony Vaio desktop (more on that in a few days). I already have an Apple G4 and Apple Titanium Powerbook G4.

It’s going to be a painful few days. I’m using IntelliMover to transfer files from my 3-year-old Dell 8200 PC to the Vaio, and the program estimates it will take 75 hours. Whatever brief flicker of joy there was in getting a new personal computer was quickly extinguished.

I haven’t been on email Friday, and my brother’s coming from out of town on Saturday, so anyone who’s emailed me in the past day probably won’t receive an answer till Monday.
